The short answer

At your first visit, you fill out a health history, Dr. Wael Sadek examines your teeth and gums, and X-rays are taken if needed. He then explains what he found and your options. Bring a photo ID, your insurance card if you have one, and a list of your medicines.

01Before you come in

Appointments are recommended, so call ahead to book your visit. Americana Family Dental is open Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 4 PM, and closed Saturday and Sunday.

If you have dental insurance, call the office before your visit. The front desk can check whether your plan is accepted. The full list of plans is not posted online yet, so a quick call is the surest way to know.

What to bring

  • A photo ID
  • Your dental insurance card, if you have one
  • A list of the medicines you take, including vitamins and supplements

Your medicine list matters. Some medicines affect bleeding, healing, or dry mouth. Some health conditions change how dental care should be planned. Knowing this up front helps Dr. Sadek keep you safe.

02Finding the office

The office is at 2067 Americana Blvd, Orlando, FL 32839, in Americana Plaza. There is parking at the plaza. The entrance, parking, and restroom are wheelchair accessible. If you or a family member needs extra help getting in, let the front desk know when you call.

03What happens during the visit

1. Your health history

You will answer questions about your health, past dental care, and any concerns you have. This is a good time to mention anything that bothers you, like a sensitive tooth, bleeding gums, or a fear of the dentist.

2. X-rays, if needed

X-rays show what the eye cannot see, such as decay between teeth, bone levels, and problems below the gum line. Not everyone needs the same X-rays. Dr. Sadek decides based on your age, your history, and what he sees. If you have recent X-rays from another office, ask that office to send them over.

3. The exam

Dr. Sadek checks each tooth for a cavity, cracks, and worn or broken fillings. He checks your gums for signs of inflammation and looks at your bite. He also looks at your tongue, cheeks, and throat for anything unusual.

4. Cleaning

A cleaning removes plaque and tartar, the hard buildup that brushing cannot take off at home. [OFFICE TO CONFIRM: whether a routine cleaning is usually done at the first visit or scheduled as a separate appointment]

5. Talking through the plan

At the end, Dr. Sadek explains what he found in plain language. If you need treatment, he will go over your options, which ones can wait, and which ones should not. You are always welcome to ask questions or take time to decide. Dr. Sadek speaks English and Arabic.

04Bringing children and the whole family

Americana Family Dental is a family practice and sees patients of all ages. Many families book visits close together so parents and children can be seen on the same trip. Ask the front desk when you call.

For a child's first visit, it helps to talk about the dentist in a calm, simple way at home. Avoid words like "shot" or "hurt." Let them know someone will count their teeth and make them shiny. Read more about dental care for kids.

05Paying for your visit

The office accepts dental insurance, CareCredit, credit and debit cards, and tap-to-pay. If you have insurance, the front desk can help you understand what your plan may cover. If you do not have insurance, ask about your options before treatment begins. You can learn more on our insurance and payment page.

06If you feel nervous

Many adults feel anxious about the dentist, especially if it has been a long time. You are not alone, and you will not be judged. Tell the front desk and Dr. Sadek how you feel. You can ask him to explain each step before he does it, and you can agree on a hand signal to ask for a break.

If it has been years since your last visit, the first appointment is simply a starting point. It is about finding out where things stand so you can plan next steps together.

07Ready to book?

Call (407) 850-0133 to schedule. If you have tooth pain, call as early in the day as you can. The front desk will look for the soonest time open. For more details, see our new patient information.
